The Umayyad empire was pretty big. It covered the Iberian peninsula all the way to the Pyrenean peninsula.
Touristic Places
Cordoba, the capital of this region, was a splendid city. At night lit lamps would be everywhere making the place shine like a star. At morning people would walk through the paved streets looking at the dozens of beautiful gardens filled with varieties of flowers, fruit trees, and fountains. You could also find lots of dated palm-trees which were imported from Syria and were a symbol of the great Arab civilisation and culture. You could also go to the libraries which were filled with more than 400,000 volumes including ancient Greek texts translated into Arab, Hebrew, and Latin. And, don't forget the public baths which were located in every corner. Finally, the one thing you cannot miss is the Great Mosque. This place was beautiful, filled with detail in every place, statues, big structures, and vivid colours.
